There is much good to be said for the freestanding individual progressive slots, too. Most of them offer two instead of just one progressive jackpot. The thing to look for is the machine with largest jackpots for its particular coin denomination and the number of coins needed per play to win. Of course, the number of reels on the machines you are comparing must be the same. Also, be sure the progressive jackpot is larger than the highest regular jackpot of any non-progressive machine of the same denomination and that it requires the same number of coins to be played.
Generally it is believed that any three-line, three-reel freestanding progressive with a jackpot of two or three times more than a corresponding non-progressive slot would be a super-good machine to play. This would provide an opportunity to win a substantial sum of money and an even bigger thrill should you get lucky and hit the jackpot.
Unless you are having serious bad luck, you will probably receive numerous small pays which, if you recycle that money back in the machine, will allow you to stay at this machine quite a while. The longer you can stay on the machine the better your chances of hitting the jackpot, which will have been growing larger the entire time you've been playing.
